Cats these days.

Cat, ever since you got that Gameboy all you do is play Nintendogs. Don't you want to play feather with me anymore? You've changed.

Everyone is leaving I'm still with you

I'm really so fond of The Concretes Victoria Bergsman voice, she gifts it to Stockholm's Peter Bjorn and John and takes this song to bongo level 9.

Do you have four minutes to party with Japanese Cat Song.

"A chorus of Japanese children provide the catchy soundtrack to this cute montage of kitty cat antics. "

There are some pretty great clips within this 4 minute video, including the infamous "Ping-Pong playing cat", " Take a shower in the kitchen sink cat", "Hey, look at me I'm a box head cat" and "I wear my sunglasses to sleep cat"

Bought the Cigarettes

I've been desperate to digitally convert my Evergreen Seven Songs LP forever, but am technologically stunted.

Seven Songs is one of my most prized records.

Swoon blog has MP3's of the LP and here's a fan myspace site I just discovered

Listen especially to "Eric and the Digger Blue", which was one of my teen anthems.

Cat has no comment about misadventure

"Tom, a one-year-old black cat, loves to snoop around. Last Tuesday, he snooped his way into a hole that led him underneath his house. Unfortunately for Tom, that same day, workers were pumping cement into those holes to fill them in, and unknowingly trapped him underneath the garage floor. "

Belle, pack up your toys... America has spoken

The first cat-testant in the Meow Mix House challenge has been voted out of the house, America said No to Belle and we're not surprised...this was what Belle wrote on her blog this past Thursday "Living in the house with nine other cats is really getting on my nerves!" I have no privacy, no free time."

We sent our Senior New York Meow House Correspondent to file a report live from Madison Ave.

"I talked to this guy who worked there for a long time and he said Jo was winning on the internet. He was like "On the net Jo's ahead but here she doesnt do anything so we're all like "why?"'"

Overheard while watching the cats:

girl 1: what is that? meow mix cat house? huh?
girl 2: ughhhhhh! I hate cats.

Episode One of Meow Mix House

Oh Little Lion (an understatement)

I've been reading about Caetano Veloso lately, mostly because of Cibelle recetly covering his song "London, London". Besides the entirety of Domingo the record he made with Gal Costa, the song "O Leaozinho" is my essential Veloso, one of the prettiest songs ever written.

"I'm from South Jersey, so I don't take any crap from a cat."

In March I posted the story about the the so-called "Terrorist of Sunset Circle", Lewis the Cat. The "ferocious feline terrorized a quiet Fairfield neighborhood", causing the neighbors to place a restraining order on the cat. "The cat's long claws and stealth have allowed it to attack at least a half-dozen people and ambush the Avon lady." Lewis's plight has inspired a myspace page and a merchandise store

Here's an update

"A state judge spared the life of alleged neighbor-assaulter Lewis the cat on Tuesday, but ordered that he remain inside his owner's Fairfield home at all times.

The Best Friends Animal Society of Kanab, Utah, had also offered to take Lewis free of charge. The cat sanctuary can accommodate about 600 cats in climate-controlled bungalows and has specialists who know how to handle cats with behavior problems. Lewis would be no threat to the public in Utah because the sanctuary's closest neighbor is Denny's Wigwam, a curio shop about four miles away.

The owner of the shop, Victor Sandonato, said he has already been warned that Lewis might be moving to his neighborhood. "I live with a cat just like Lewis, and I live with danger every time I go home at night," he said, adding, "I'm from South Jersey, so I don't take any crap from a cat.""

The Real World

"Ten cats in search of owners will spend the next 10 days in a New York store window, their every move caught on camera for a reality TV show on which they will compete for best sleeper and mouse-catcher... Enjoying their final day of obscurity on Monday, the cats seemed unfazed by attention from visiting media -- most of the cats were asleep on the set, which will be unveiled to the public on Tuesday. A cat named Sam, from Dallas, Texas, stood guard on the home's welcome mat while Romeo, a Los Angeles native, lazily stretched out his six-toed paws before swatting a toy."

Cat 1, Bear 0 In New Jersey

A black bear picked the wrong New Jersey yard for a jaunt earlier this week, running into a territorial tabby who ran the furry beast up a tree — twice.

Jack, a 15-pound orange-and-white cat, keeps a close vigil on his property, chasing small animals when he can, but his owners and neighbors say his latest escapade was surprising.

"We used to joke, 'Jack's on duty,' never knowing he'd go after a bear," cat owner Donna Dickey told The Star-Ledger of Newark for Friday's newspapers.

Neighbor Suzanne Giovanetti first spotted Jack's accomplishment after her husband saw a bear climb a tree on the edge of their northern New Jersey home's back yard on Sunday. Giovanetti thought Jack was simply looking up at the bear, but soon realized the much larger animal was afraid of the hissing cat.

After about 15 minutes peering down at the cat from the tree, the bear descended and tried to run away, only to have Jack chase it up another tree.

At this point Dickey, who feared for her cat, called Jack back home and the bear scurried back to the woods.

"He doesn't want anybody in his yard," Dickey said.

To avoid being arrested or truncheoned by an angry German Polizeiman, simply turn your get-out-of-trouble-quick t-shirt inside out and, quicker than you can say "But I'm just an innocent bystander officer," you'll be transformed from a devoted and loyal England footie fan into a passive German cat lover. The Blogger site has been a mess these last few days, my first chance at posting...
One of the best records I discovered last year was Eux Autres's Hell Is Eux Autres, it's totally magic. The two of them are starting their U.S tour tonight in San Francisco, you really would be missing out if you didn't go see them play. You can be tired at work the next day on your work's time.

Their new record will be out in the States this Sept on Empyrean Records and a few months earlier (July) in Europe on Track and Field

I'm looking forward to jamming it.

Heathcliff and Tang

Read a story in today's SF Chronicle about the SF SPCA's SIDO program, they find new homes for orphaned pets.

Like Heathcliff:

"Small familiarities like that can make a big difference to a confused and distraught pet, said Louisa DeRosa, Sido's animal grief counselor. "Heathcliff here was so depressed when we got him," she said of a Sido cat currently up for adoption. "He'd put his face up against the wall and just stare at it." The Maine coon cat refused to eat, became anorexic and had to be hospitalized; his lifelong friend Tang, a Siamese mix, paced and cried, worrying about Heathcliff on top of dealing with the same loss, said DeRosa. Once she used the Sido tip sheets to ease their pain, the two cats, who can only be adopted together, needed only a few weeks to adjust to their new lives. It would have taken much longer without that information, DeRosa said."

Not only did Surishiloh Stevens play Sasquatch Festival last weekend, he also helped construct the stage and set up the lighting rigs.

Is that a bible in your back pocket or are you happy to see me?

Mr. Kibbles has a big middle toe for you Christopher Cortes

Maybe Mr. Kibbles will know better the next time he's looking for a litter box. Christopher Cortes, 33, and wife, Iris Zuckerman, 33, were sentenced Thursday to 100 hours and 50 hours of community service, respectively, for snatching the black cat from their neighbor's home and leaving him in the Everglades (15 miles away) in February 2005.

Police said Cortes was upset the cat used the back of his new pickup truck as a litter box.

Cortes, a firefighter, and his wife had pleaded no contest to petty theft and declined comment after the hearing.

"That's what they get for taking an innocent cat," said the cat's owner, 12-year-old Maggie Leonard.

Leonard said Mr. Kibbles made his way back to his home two weeks later. She said she's disappointed in the couple, who were close friends of the family, adding that firefighters should be saving cats from trees, not stealing them.

Music and Movement and Beat and Happening

I wrote back in March about the Scottish band Music and Movement likening them to MBV and Felt. I finally got a copy of their album This is Music and Movement and while they do have elements of Felt and MVB I'm more reminded of the bands Opal and Beat Happening. Sometimes it's uncanny how the male vocalist channels his inner Calvin Johnson. I still don't know how I feel about the entire record yet but there are parts that I instantly liked and some I'll have to work on.

Their song "I Saw You" is one of the best singles I've heard all year.

Music and Movement - I Saw You
Music and Movement - Body Bags

Here's some Beat Happening from my favorite record of theirs You Turn Me On

Beat Happening - Hey Day
Beat Happening - Tiger Trap
