All Guide Dogs Go To Heaven

This might be the most controversial post for this site...but I think guide/service dogs are the noblest living things on the planet so I'll post this photo and STORY from today's Times about Canines for Combat Veterans.

Tonight the cats get dressed as guide dogs for Halloween

There are many cat on a treadmill clips on YouTube but this one takes the karate cake! This kitty's perseverance should be an inspiration to us all!

If you don't know, the song is from The Karate Kid.

Let my mind go out of tune

I've been attached to Yo La Tengo's I Am Not Afraid Of You And I Will Beat Your Ass the past three days, it's a good thing we'll be seeing them very soon.

Go buy that and 2000's And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside-Out, take some percocet and throw yourself a one person party this weekend

The Article "Dogs May Laugh, but Only Cats Get the Joke"

I thought it was pretty amusing that the Times would publish these in the Letters to the Editors section.

From the The New York Times Sept 21st 2006 Letters to the Editors

To the Editor:

Re ''Dogs May Laugh, but Only Cats Get the Joke'' (Side Effects, Sept. 5): My cat not only has a sense of humor, but he is also an inveterate practical joker. Instead of merely placing a dead rodent on top of the bedspread or pillow as a token of love, he conceals it under the covers and watches expectantly for my inevitable cry of horror.
Worse, he will lie on his back near the stereo speakers, eyes closed, blissfully enjoying classical music. Yet the moment I remove my violin from its case to practice, he lets out a loud meow and hides under the bed, covering his face with his paws.
Les Dreyer
New York

To the Editor:

As a longtime cat raiser, I agree with your Side Effects columnist, James Gorman, that cats have a sense of humor.
While dogs tend to be submissive, cats seek dominance -- having the ''upper paw.'' Hence their ability to be deliberately annoying (as in willfully knocking an aspirin vial off the bathroom shelf) or to hide and suddenly spring in order to astound unsuspecting victims, be they beloved humans or sibling playmates. It is all in fun -- but with the laugh on others.

Wanted: Neck tattoo for shitty band

Yes, Project Runway is one of the most entertaining shows on television.

During last night's finale I was wondering what shitty music was playing during Jeffrey Sebelia's catwalk show and thanks to Idolator this morning I found out it was his own, Lifter.

Dots

The new White Magic "Dat Rosa Mel Apibus" is out soon, you can listen to some songs at Raven Sings The Blues Blog. I like White Magic alright, Mira Billotte has an incredible voice but I prefer Qui*x*otic, the band she plays in with her sister Christina.

Qui*x*otic - Anonymous Face (From their album Mortal Mirror)
Qui*x*otic - We Are Alone (From their album Night For Day)

Along the same musical lines, Christina has another band called The Casual Dots which includes Bikini Kill's Kathi Wilcox and Deep Lust's Steve Dore.

The Casual Dots - Clocks
The Casual Dots - Flowers

Both bands are the shit.

Meow You

"Pennsylvania police charged a 14-year-old boy with misdemeanor harassment for "meowing" whenever he sees his neighbor, 78-year-old Alexandria Carasia.

The boy's family and Carasia do not get along. The boy's mother said the family got rid of their cat after Carasia complained to police that it used her flower garden as a litter box.

The boy testified Tuesday that he only meowed at the woman twice. Carasia testified, "Every time he sees me, he meows."

District Judge Joseph DeMarchis decided to wait 90 days before ruling. DeMarchis said his decision will be based on how the boy and his neighbor get along in the meantime."

My cat cloning days are over, I hung my boots up and then retired from the disco floor

The Californian company "Genetic Savings & Clone that sold cloned pets, sent letters to its customers last month informing them it will close at the end of the year because of little demand for cloned cats. The company had recently reduced the price from $50,000 to $32,000."

Only two cats were sold and the companies remaining stock is up for sale on eBay, the Buy it Now price is $ 2.75!

Q: "Where are we going?" A: "We are going mad.

Imagine that you are 10 and your school class goes on a field trip to the botanic gardens with The fucking Smiths, Sandie Shaw shows up, Johnny Marr busts out a guitar and they rip into your favorite Smiths song 'Jeanne' , you lucky little bastard.

X-Cat

If you've been cursed by Jesus Christ with cat allergies you can pay a company $4000 dollars and can have your very own "sneeze-proof cats".

The company Allerca discovered "that a very small number of cats carry a mutant gene that produces a modified protein, one far less likely to induce allergies... Allerca screened thousands of cats to identify a population with the modified gene and then set those cats to breeding. Since the mutant gene is dominant, these breeding cats could even be mated with normal cats to produce hypoallergenic kittens. And no special licensing or government approvals were necessary."

Grass

Still an old favorite: Animal Collective - Kids on Holiday

We were directed to this full Animal Collective concert from March of 2006 over at Louder, Pussycat blog. While over at that blog we got excited when we read this tag under their "About the site", "It's all about the music. And the Cats" but where are the cat posts guys? You are liars or beatniks!

What a crowd, right? Animal Collective playing 'Grass' live in California's capitol.
