The Devil Takes My Mind But I Don' t Care.

I didn't even know that there was a video for Slowdive's "Morningrise" until tonight.

One of my favorite songs ever, I saw them open for My Bloody Valentine at the show where the bartenders threw ice at MBV during the 30 minute feedback.

Captain Cat

I am mesmerized by the CAT and although it hurts the eyes I can't look away. I happened to be listening to 2006's jam of the summer "Young Folks" and the cat is in perfect sync with the music.

Doherty's pet cat took cocaine

Pete Doherty's pet cat has been found to have traces of cocaine in its blood stream after being taken in for observation by vets, say reports.

The Babyshambles star owns a cat named Dinger, a slang word for syringe, which recently gave birth to a litter of five kittens.

One of the litter became ill and the singer was forced to take the kitten into the vet for tests, where the drug revelation was discovered.

An RSPCA spokesman told the Daily Star: "It is a police matter, so we cannot deny or confirm the identity of the man who had this kitten removed. But it is very important to protect animals from substances that can do them serious harm."

Mr. MR

Max Roach, a man I consider one of the greatest drummers of all time passed away today.

When I was a 17 year old I went to see him play at the Catalina Jazz Club in Hollywood, I was going thru a fierce bebop phase during that period.

At the end of his set I nevously went up to him to tell him how much the show had meant to me, he said thanks and he shook my hand.

I was hoping that by shaking his hand some of his drum genius would rub off on me...but unfortunately I proved too toxic and any hints of genius were destroyed by bad rhythm and stiff 4/4 timing.

Be sure to check out his work with Clifford Brown, some of my most favorite jazz records.

There was a cover story a few weeks ago in BusinessWeek about how Americans spend billions a year on their pets, this includes items like a $1,200 Hermès collar and leash, $500 Chanel pearls or Neuticles which is a patented testicular implant that sells for up to $919 a pair.

"Americans now spend $41 billion a year on their pets—more than the gross domestic product of all but 64 countries in the world"

I'd spend any amount on health care for my pets and spending money on something like The Mr. Lee CatCam is perfectly understandable but an Isaac Mizrahi doggy trench coat?

I thought this Letter to the Editor was a perfect response

"As a volunteer for a no-kill animal shelter in St. Louis, I wish that even a small portion of the $41 billion spent on pets was donated to animal welfare groups working tirelessly to end the abuse and neglect that animals endure. Millions of animals are euthanized yearly because of pet overpopulation. Shelters do not have enough room, and there are not enough homes to go around. The money could support groups that offer free and low-cost spay and neuter programs so that someday, perhaps, there would be no more homeless pets." (Connie Davies St. Louis)

Cat Avoids Blaze by Hiding in Couch

A cat in West Orange may have only eight lives left after it avoided a blaze that gutted part of the house it lived in by hiding in the couch.

Firefighters battling the blaze late Saturday night initially thought the feline, who belonged to one of the tenants in the two-story house, had been killed by flames and smoke. But after putting out the blaze and surveying the damage, they found the cat wedged into the couch.

"To our amazement, it had survived," Fire Chief Peter Smeraldo told The Star-Ledger of Newark for Monday's newspapers. "They should change that cat's name to Lucky."

I really like Robert Schneider who leads the band The Apples in Stereo, there isn't a nicer guy or now...perhaps smarter guy in the indie world.

He led a seminar discussing his non-Pythagorean musical scale at Mathfest, the annual gathering of the Mathematical Association of America.
